Connecting to the Internet

Brief History and today's usage of it.

Scientifically said,Internet is the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide. Internet is a successor to ARPANET, US military and scientifical network developed in 1970s, as a way of communicating in case of Soviet nuclear attack. However, with end of Cold War and dissolution of USSR, US Government decommissioned ARPANET in 1990, and Internet, in shape we know, was born.

The main purpose of this website is to give assistance to people who are new to Internet, on how to connect to it. In next few passages, you'll learn how to do it right. We will discuss to methods:

  1. Ethernet
  2. Wi-Fi

Instruction in steps with images. (via Ethernet)

Step 1

Attach an ethernet cable's one end to a modem or router. Then attach the second end to the ethernet port on your computer.

Step 2

Click on the START MENU and select CONTROL PANEL.

Step 3

Select the NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER.

Step 4

From the Tasks section on the left, select CHANGE ADAPTER SETTINGS.

Step 5

Right-click the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION icon and select PROPERTIES.

Step 6

Select INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click the PROPERTIES button.

Step 7

Make sure OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY and OBTAIN DNS SERVER ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY are selected.

Step 8

Click the OK button to close the other open windows.

Step 9

Finally, restart the computer.

Connecting to the Internet via WiFI

Step 1

Activate WiFi adapter

Locate a WiFi network that you know (i.e. Home network)

Click to it and enter password for the network, if necessary.
